Cake Craft FAQ
Can I have different flavours of cake?
Yes, you can have a mixture of flavours and have the cakes in any order. For instance, you can have a chocolate Mississippi Mudcake on the bottom tier, a fruit cake on the middle tier and a lemon cake on the top. Cakes are constructed in such a way that they will not sink into the layer below.
Must I have almond icing?
Only fruit cakes have almond icing. For example, if you have mudcake it will have a chocolate ganache, coating then the fondant.
How soon do I need to book a cake?
To avoid disappointment, bookings should be made as soon as possible. However, designs can be changed up to a fortnight out from your wedding day.
Will you decorate a cake made by a family member or special friend?
Yes. But we will only decorate fruit cakes.
Do you courier cakes within New Zealand?
Yes, we will pack the cake well, but our responsibility ends when the cake leaves our premises. Courier firms take care but will not accept any responsibility for any damage. We have not had any problems, but we recommend that a friend or family member travelling to the wedding is the best option.
Can I take a wedding cake overseas?
Yes, we will box it well, but it must be taken as hand luggage. Our clients have taken cakes to Fiji, Australia, United Kingdom and USA.
Do you deliver and set up cakes at local venues?
Yes we do, but there is a delivery charge.
How do we store a cake after the wedding?
Wrap the cake well in plastic wrap and store in the freezer. Take it out a couple of days before you need it to bring it back to room temperature.
